It was raining when I woke up on September 21st, 2013.  The evening before all I could do was continually refresh the weather updates on my iPhone.  I was so hoping that it wouldn’t be raining on Melissa and Derrick’s wedding day.  I had seen the details, knew the vision, and I was very excited about photographing these two once again…but not in the rain.  Well, it was raining.  As the day began, everyone had a make-the-best-out-of-it attitude, which is really all you can do; right?  Well, it’s the most logical way to think, but not all brides would have been as calm as Melissa appeared to be.  Up went the big white tent to keep the guests dry, and Melissa’s father was heading a crew of people working tirelessly to prepare for an outside celebration with 150+ guests IN THE RAIN.  This bride & groom were given the gift of sun that day.  The skies cleared for Mr. and Mrs. Shaw, and their wedding celebration was incredible, beautiful and dry 🙂  Be sure not to miss the dancing shots below.  Melissa and Derrick danced to Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing.  I felt like I was watching Dancing with the Stars.  They totally rocked it!
