You’ve said yes and the date has been set but what next!? The do-it-yourselfers out there immediately kick into action. What a better opportunity to put all of your organizations, planning and creative skills to work?! But wait! What about those of us with no ability whatsoever to plan even the smallest event. For these ladies, the idea of hosting an intimate gathering of friends including take-out brings on a cold sweat! Enter …the Wedding Coordinator!
Thankfully, there is someone out there who can help (and even take over for) those of us either creatively and organizationally challenged or just plain too busy to manage the copious things that need to be planned and executed in order to pull off possibly the most important day in a couple’s life!
So what does a wedding planner do? I had the opportunity to interview a Sonoma County Event Coordinator, Janis Garrigus in order to uncover the mysteries of the infamous wedding planner and found out that not only is this a service that can come to the rescue of the incapable or busy but one that can be a wonderful resource for those of us needing help ranging from the big to the sundry. In fact, in her case, many of her clients are DIY brides who have the ideas but need the support and guidance to pull them off. Janis’ offerings range the practical such as making recommendation among the millions of vendors and advising her couple on pulling off that amazing Pinterest idea, to the personal such as keeping peace between the mothers of the bride and groom. She has even handled the catastrophe of a list minute pre-ceremony spill on the wedding gown!
According to Janis, “As long as the bride is happy…” she has done her job. Thank you, Janis of Garrigus Events for giving us some inside intel on why an event coordinator could be the way to make sure that the weeks planning up to your wedding and your wedding day are as calm, peaceful and joyful as they can be.
